In order for DPS automation to understand fully your intentions, and to effect correct fader - riding,
you must follow the rules for using DPS reserved categories.
Categories for audio can be seen in the DPS Library in the Category column. Categories have a relationship to levels, too.
The Reserved Categories are as follows:
DRY - Any jingle, sweeper ident or audio that consists purely of speech.
Dry cuts should have NO background effects or music whatsoever, eg
Station "whisper" IDs. DRY audio causes a fader - ride in favour of the
dry cut (ie it fades the other audio down slightly)
TRACKED - Reserved for DJ Links only. These are usually very generic "Hello, how are you, you are listening to..." type links that are played in automation.
or ADs - Use these categories for commercials only. COMM preferred
or ADVERT
ID - Sweepers usually go into the ID category. This is a generic category for any station ID that has either a musical background, or heavy sound effects.
SPLITADS - Do not use this category! It is reserved for a special version of DPS that
was made for transmission split adbreaks.
For slick automation and fader-riding, you must use the reserved catgeories with care.
